stylist lotta agaton

Swedes and neutral colour palettes go together like winter and snow. They are natural partners. And so it follows that the styling work of Lotta Agaton is a study in calm. She has picked up many clients since she turned to interior styling in the early 1990s, including Iittala, Ikea, Elle Interior and Wallpaper. She also has a shop in Sweden - you can see some pics of it on her blog.

Which five words best describe you? Optimist, perfectionist, morning person, impatient, passionate with what I do.
How did you get your career start and what path have you taken since? My father is an architect so I was born into design. I co-founded a Swedish interior magazine called Residence 1989 and worked there as a managing editor for four years and have been freelancing as an interior stylist ever since.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt along the way? Never compromise and settle for less, no easy way outs or quick fixes ever work.
What’s your proudest career achievement? That I might have managed to inspire others every now and then.
What’s been your best decision? To go freelance.
Who inspires you? Faye Toogood
What are you passionate about? My family, friends, cooking and everything that has to do with design.
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? I'm happy with the people I have around me.
What dream do you still want to fulfil? I might want to start a new magazine without compromises.
What are you reading? Everything that ends up in front of me.
