Ever since forming, the duo behind fashion label Romance was Born have stood out from the crowd. Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales met at East Sydney Technical College and went to Italy after winning a competition, but turned down the prize of an internship with John Galliano. As designers they have focussed on creating clothes that embrace theatricality and transcend trends. They have collaborated with artist Del Kathryn Barton, and actress Cate Blanchett appointed them costume designers for a production at the Sydney Theatre Company.
